Kerria japonica Golden Guinea is a great plant for brightening a woodland edge or as a foil against green foliage in the border. Commonly known, rather charmingly, as Batchelor’s Buttons, this plant is said to be one of the easiest shrubs to grow (but it can get rather carried away!) It flowers on new growth so needs to cut back to produce the best blooms, and to keep it in check.
