It forms a compact mound of variegated leaves edged in pinky white, bearing large pink flowers, which emerge from white to soft pink buds, from late summer into autumn.

S. Pina Colada looks lovely positioned in drifts but also has great effect planted in a container on a sunny terrace. The flowers are attractive to bees and butterflies, providing a late-season nectar source. Leave the flowers to form seed heads on the plant for sculptural interest in winter.
