Photinia Red Robins are related to the malus family (apple trees). If left to flower they do go on to produce small berries that are appreciated by native birds such as thrushes. It is a recipient of the RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit), for all round excellence.
Photonias respond well to pruning and are ideal for use as hedging or screening.

Photinias are very hardy and grow vigorously. Prune hard in the spring after the frosts to encourage new red growth. Mulch in spring. Fruits are ornamental- not to be eaten.
