Insights
Easy to grow, Prunus Myrtifolia is tolerant of most well drained soil conditions, even thriving in poor, chalky soils. As it has shallow roots, do not allow an establishing plant to dry out in summer (but equally avoid waterlogging soil). It is fast growing so can establish a hedge in two to three years and will benefit from regular trimming. It is a recipient of the RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit), for all round excellence.

Care
- Allow space around it for growth
- Leaves and seeds should not be ingested by humans or pets
- Trim regularly to encourage dense, bushy growth – if left untrimmed will become a tree with large root growth. Do this in late spring or early summer but check first for bird nests. Leaves, branches and fruits contain toxic compounds so wear gloves and do not burn cuttings.
