The dark green, glossy foliage of the evergreen Euonymus japonica Green Spire brings to mind Box, and can be used in the same way, but benefits from greater disease resistance. The small green leaves can be clipped as hedging or into topiary - this example has already been shaped into a ball, wonderful for structural interest in the garden.

INSIGHTS
Sometimes referred to as Green Rocket, the leaves are similar in shape to Bay. It is native to the Mediterranean and is a low maintenance plant suitable for border or pot.
