notes

Excellent as groundcover, this Brunnera macrophylla Betty Bowring bears sprays of pretty, white, forget-me-not type flowers, held above heart shaped foliage. Clump forming, it works well in semi shaded areas or paired with hostas or ferns, but it is tolerant of some sun, as long as its roots have moisture.

Insights

This Siberian bugloss is a woodland native, ‘bugloss’ meaning ox tongue in Greek, perhaps referencing the texture and shape of its leaves. This is a lovely plant for softening shady pathways or lighting up a dark corner.
