Features

notes

The unusual flowers of Edgeworthia chrysantha come as a delightful surprise in early spring. Intriguing buds covered with silken hairs appear on the bare winter stalks, but as soon as the sun has some real heat, brilliant clusters of scented flowers emerge, forming attractive floral pom poms.

Insights

Edgeworthia likes a sheltered position, ideally in a border or courtyard area, but not in a container. It will tolerate low temperatures and partial shade, since it is indigenous to the Himalayas and China. The colloquial name Paper Bush derives from the fact that fibre from the shrub was traditionally used to make paper.
