notes

Valued for its unusual prostrate habit, Rosa Grouse has the softest pink, almost white, heart-shaped petals. Appearing in clusters, the small blooms are open, reminiscent of the early form of the dog rose, revealing a mass of golden stamens, almost hellebore-like, which attract native pollinators, especially bees. Please note, our roses are available to purchase all year round, so depending on the time of year your rose may either arrive in bloom or have been pruned or deadheaded appropriately for the season.

Insights

Grown by David Austin, this remarkable ground cover rose was bred in 1984 by the highly respected German rose breeder Kordes. It does, however, present a difficult decision: deadhead spent flowers for more blooms or leave them and enjoy a remarkable display of brilliant, red rose hips in the autumn?
