notes

Aged for 12 months in French oak barriques, this well balanced and modern Grand Cru offers up enticing aromas of ripe fruit leading to rich notes of cherry jam and cassis; followed by subtle hints of mocha and cedar wood at the finish. Sure to bring out the best in grilled red meats and fine cheeses, this Bordeaux will prove an ideal choice to complement a long Sunday lunch.

Insights

Located just five to the east of Saint Emilion, one of the most renowned regions in Bordeaux, Vieux Château des Combes is sited in the commune of Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, not far from the highest point in the appellation. The name of the Domaine suggests that wine was already in production before Benedictine abbey was constructed in 17th century, with established vineyards spread out across the small hills historically referred to as Combes.
