notes

Dainty and bearing a delicious lemon-scent, the Tulip ‘Sylvestris’ is a wild tulip with bright, buttercup-yellow flowers with a green rib running outside. Pointed in shape and ideal for naturalising in short grass, it is an especially vigorous variety. First recorded in Bologna in northern Italy in the 16th century, it has since become naturalised throughout Europe where it can be found in meadows, orchards, and open, rocky ground.

Insights

Wild (or Botanical) Tulips are known for being especially great naturalizers. Not only do they return year after year, they multiply and build up a small colony over time. Being early bloomers, wild species often flower before most other tulips.
