Rosmarinus officinalis Blue Lagoon is a woody, perennial herb with fragrant, evergreen, needle-like leaves and deep blue flowers which bloom on and off throughout the summer and are also highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinators. It is popularly used as a low hedging plant or in culinary parterres.
Native to the Mediterranean region it prefers well drained soil and full sun. It is particularly lovely planted along paths where a brush with the aromatic foliage is a sensory delight. Extremely versatile, the leaves are delicious sprinkled in stews and over trays of roasted meats, traditionally lamb, and vegetables, or chopped into thick pasta sauces.

As an extremely useful culinary herb, it is good to have easy access to Rosmarinus and it is perfectly happy planted in a terracotta container positioned on a sunny terrace near the house. Trim back annually after flowering to avoid the plant becoming woody.
