Clump forming, it tolerates a number of soil conditions but thrives in boggy soil. In early summer it bears pale green flower panicles.

It’s a vigorous plant that spreads quickly, so may need to be kept under control. Grown around the edge of a pond or water garden, it can assist with preventing soil erosion.
