Features

notes

This low-growing plant produces a carpet of thin, grass like leaves when planted en-masse, ready for profusions of tiny, white flowers that pop up in spring. These pretty starlets are known for opening from mid-morning to early afternoon, before closing again for the evening.

Insights

Ornithogalum umbellatum has the common name ‘Garden Star of Bethlehem’, which is in reference to tales that suggest that the plant grew from fragments of the Christmas star from the nativity story.
