Miscanthus purpurascens
A wonderful variety of miscanthus, Purpurascens provides excellent interest year round. Beginning the year with grey-green leaves, magenta toned seed heads emerge in spring. Leaves gradually flush orange and red as late summer turns to autumn, filling the garden with russet tones. This foliage is complemented by the swathes of pinky white panicles that burst from the seed heads in early winter, and, when backlit by early morning light, fill the heart with joy.

Miscanthus is a tolerant, deciduous hardy perennial with an erect habit that offers great versatility in the garden. It looks wonderful as a specimen or planted in groups as a screen, but equally looks effective in a large pot on a terrace.
