Hosta Big Daddy
- Pot size: 2L
- Height and Spread: 50-100cm (2ft 8in-3ft) x 50-100cm (2ft 8in-3ft) after 2-5 years
Hostas are native to the far east but were introduced to Europe in the 1800s and became instantly popular. They are spectacular when planted alongside other shade loving plants such as heuchera, dicentra or ferns. Because this is a sieboldiana hybrid, this hosta is less prone to attack from slugs
Early summer, pale lilac flowers held on strong stems above foliage
- Moist, well drained soil
- North, east facing
- Partial shade
- Sheltered
In slug prone areas, plant in a container raised on gravel and water, otherwise in a dappled border. Deadhead spent flowers and removed foliage as it dies back in the autumn.
