notes
Visually, Cupressus sempervirens Totem recalls the elegant cypress standing sentinel around villas on Tuscan hillsides; they have the same silhouette but on a smaller scale, making them a better proportion for gardens. For specimen planting, plant these small Italian Cypress in a large container or position at the back of borders, their slim, dark profiles drawing the eye.
Insights

In Greek mythology, Cyparissus, a youth from an island now known as Kea, was a favourite of the god Apollo. Cyparissus accidentally killed his beloved stag one night in his sleep and his grief was so acute that he died and was turned into a tree - a cupressus. This variety has been named, understandably, after iconic Canadian and northwest American totem poles.
