Features

notes
Clematis Mayleen is part of the very vigorous Montana family, so valued for covering large areas. Its copious, scented blooms are notable - being slightly larger than those of other Montanas, they overlap, forming a mass of pink-centred flowers shading to a paler outer edge. The deciduous foliage has a subtle bronze tint.
Insights

Clematis have their roots in the Far East. C. Viticella, arrived in Europe in the mid-16th century. Two centuries later, the Victorians bred numerous varieties and their popularity continues. The native Clematis is found in autumn hedgerows, the fluffy seed heads explaining the traditional name: Old Man’s Beard. A recipient of the RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit), for all round excellence in the garden.
