This compact, deciduous Japanese Quince is a spreading shrub, with spiny branches bearing glossy, ovate leaves. In late winter to early spring it produces cup-shaped flowers with ruffled petals and a beautiful yellow eye. The aromatic, green-yellow fruit that follows in late summer is traditionally used to make preserves and jellies.
