notes
Beauty Berry, the colloquial name for Callicarpa bodinieri Profusion, stems from the vibrant purple berries, resembling shiny beads, that appear in dense bundles in autumn. The attractive, lanceolate leaves of this upright, deciduous shrub, emerge a bronzed purple, turning to green in the summer, when the clusters of small pink flowers appear, and changing to golden purple in autumn.
Origins / Interesting Fact

This shrub’s full name is Callicarpa bodinieri var. geraldii Profusion, named after Emile Marie Bodinier, a French missionary and botanist based in Peking, who collected numerous plants in China during the second half of the 19th century, this being his most notable find.

A recipient of the RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit), for all round excellence in the garden.
