Features

notes

Living up to its name, Calathea majestica is one of the largest Calathea varieties, making a wonderful statement plant. Great at filtering toxins from the air, the egg-shaped leaves of this variety feature white stripes, sometimes tinged with pink at the rib, that cover the leaf as if painted on. Please note, the pot cover featured is not included.

Insights

Native to Eastern Brazil, Calatheas can be found on the tropical rainforest floor where little light trickles through the heavy canopy. At night, the leaves fold and lower, then rise and spread out during the day. This habit lends the Calathea its alternate name, Prayer Plant, due to its opening and closing motion, which in turn maximises light absorption.
