Indigenous groups of the Amazon have been utilizing carbon-rich biochar for thousands of years. Made by pyrolysis, where organic matter is heated in the absence of oxygen, bicholar does not degrade, therefore permanently improving the soil quality. Pure, fine-grained and having a large surface area, this material is known for its carbon-negative process, in turn reducing the levels of CO2 in the atmosphere.
