Unlike its green-leaved relation, the deeply cut foliage of this variety is a striking dark purple. The flowers rise to a good height above the plant, and it looks as if the purple of the dark stems has washed the delicate umbels of tiny white flowers a pale pink.

Plant A. Ravenswing in the border to provide a lightness of touch amongst other herbaceous plants. Stake the young plant before it flowers and cut down in the autumn. Alternatively, use in a wild garden or meadow where it will proliferate if allowed to self-seed. In autumn cut down to ground level and mulch.
