With open, bowl shaped flowers boasting velvet-like petals of the deepest plum, the Anemone Coronaria Bordeaux (Poppy Anemone) makes a striking accent in the border. Not only are the petals such a rich and tactile colour, but the eye is a bright violet with bold black stamens. Foliage is finely divided, forming interesting ferny groundcover.

A burst of early spring colour, the Anemone Coronaria Bordeaux can be used at the front of the border but would also bring a container to life on the terrace. The flowers also make an interesting addition to a cut flower arrangement.

- Well drained soil
- East, South or West aspect
- Full sun
- Sheltered
- After flowering the corms can be lifted and dried, or left in situ to flower the following year.
- They will grow in semi shade but for best results, position in a sunny spot.
