notes

Acers provide a beautiful presence in any garden, their style so redolent of Oriental elegance. The deciduous Acer Palmatum Crimson Queen, boasts beautifully incised leaves borne on arching stems. The deep purple foliage, with similarly coloured, delicate spring flowers followed by winged fruits, turns a glorious red/orange in autumn.

Insights

This is a medium sized acer that can be grown in a large container. Acer Palmatums are also known as Japanese Maples, and once mature tend to be wider than they are tall. They do need a sheltered position where their delicate foliage can dance on the breeze and have some protection from the elements.
