A six volume set of 'The Gardener's Assistant', published in 1937. The first versions of this work were started in 1859 by emminent Victorian gardener Robert Thompson. However, from 1902, William Watson, the respected Edwardian gardener, becomes associated with the book, and thereafter all editions are ascribed solely to him; his position of Curator at Kew and Associate of the Linnean Society allowing him to pull together the very best of the gardening scholarship and practical understanding of the time.
