notes

A pre-loved 1959 first edition print of Laurie Lee's 'Cider with Rosie', this novel was the first part of a trilogy inspired by Lee's childhood and adolescence in the Cotswold village of Slad. This edition is particularly significant due to the line printed on page 272; 'There was a fire at the piano-works almost every year, it seemed to be a way of balancing books'. The unhappy owners of said factory went on to take legal action, which resulted in the destruction and recalling of many copies of this edition, hence its scarcity.
