notes

A versatile, compact form of the thicket forming shrub, Sorbaria Sorbifolia Sem bears feathery foliage that changes from pink to lime, to green to red before leaves fall. In summer, cones of stiff white flowers are held above the foliage and these dry out into interesting winter sculptural elements if left in place. A recipient of the RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit), for all round excellence.

Insights

A genus of the Rosaceae (rose) family, Sorbaria is also known as False Spirea. It spreads by suckering so position where you are happy for it to act as a wonderful ground cover, or where you can prune suckers and keep it in check. Planting in a container is another option. It is incredibly resilient, thriving in most planting conditions and has much to offer a garden in terms of interest year-round.
