notes
Anton has been described as a ‘Teddy for Tomorrow’ as he is made from a soft PET fabric made from recycled bottles. This makes him sound rather clinical, but he is 5 jointed for easy movement, with a wonderfully soft, slightly curly coat for snuggles and twinkly eyes that charm. His contrasting short-pile snout features a beautiful, intricately stitched, triangular nose for a traditional look, resulting in a popular, eco-friendly teddy
Insights

Margarete Steiff founded the company in 1880 producing stuffed animals in Germany. She was joined by her nephew Richard Steiff, who, in 1902, designed a toy bear made of mohair, and called him Teddy in reference to American President Theodore Roosevelt, who had refused to shoot a tethered bear during a hunting trip. Steiff teddies and soft toys today bear (sorry!) the same high standards of quality, with each toy handmade and finished with a yellow ear tag for authenticity.
