Handmade in small batches, and lovingly canned in Dorset, this recipe sees plump and juicy English mussels, sourced from sustainable offshore mussel farms, expertly preserved in an extra virgin olive oil, with both chilli and garlic. Enjoy with salted crisps and a squeeze of lemon or toss through fresh spaghetti and finely chopped oregano for a rewarding midweek meal.

Insights

After developing an appreciation for both the art and the quality of canned fish they enjoyed travelling Europe in their motorhome, founders Angus Cowen, a trained chef, and Charlotte Dawe established Sea Sister during the lockdown of 2020 in their kitchen in Hackney. The first manufacturers of canned fish in England since the 1940s, they are now based in based in Bridport, West Dorset, where their craft cannery specialises in preserving British fish, in season, ready to store in your cupboard and enjoyed at any time.
