Native to Polynesia, the Platycerium bifurcatum grows as an epiphytic fern, rooting itself into tree crevices where it develops this pleasing combination of flattened sterile fronds and dramatic, arching fertile fronds which grow up to a metre long. Its forked shake enables the sublime opportunity for each leaf to find light in the highly competitive rainforest canopy.

As these ferns thrive in a rainforest setting, resembling these conditions is paramount to guaranteeing your Platycerium will thrive. Place in bright, indirect light whilst regularly misting for optimal humidity; though do not soak the roots, as keeping it consistently wet will lead to root rot. Therefore, allow excess water to properly drain.
