notes

A vigorous rambler, Rosa Alexandre Girault produces a mass of flat, quartered, large, crimson-pink blooms that repeat flower into early autumn bringing dramatic impact to the garden. Bred in France by Barbier in 1909, there is a famous planting of Rosa Alexandre Girault enveloping the garden trellis with pink profusion at L’Hay-les-Roses in Paris. Please note, our roses are available to purchase all year round, so depending on the time of year your rose may either arrive in bloom or have been pruned or deadheaded appropriately for the season.

Insights

The Barbier nursery opened in 1894 and introduced the hybrid Wichurana rose to Europe in the early 1900s. They developed new cultivars of rose by crossing a hybrid tea with Japanese Rosa Lucieae and produced some of the most stunning varieties including Albertine, Alexandre Girault, and François Juranville. A recipient of the RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit), for all round excellence.
