Apple Day: An appealing bounty
First held in Covent Garden in 1990, and now celebrated across the world, Apple Day is an annual celebration of both apples and the orchards in which they grown. Initiated by the charity Common Ground, who see the apple as a symbol for local foods and their impact on both communities and landscapes, the day is an opportunity to celebrate the 2,300 apple varieties grown in the British Isles; particularly those often ignored in favour of the handful of ‘supermarket-friendly’ strains.
So, whether you are looking to make the most of your own locally sourced apples, or simply wishing to sample those varieties less tasted, our range of apple related products are on hand to help you mark and celebrate this very sweet and thoughtful occasion.
